Email Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Why does my inbox quota keep maxing out.
A1: If you're using webmail only, then your inbox will become bloated over time. You can do the following:
- Delete some messages in your webmail
- Add space to your inbox (done in cpanel Email area)
- Start using an email software like Outlook or Macmail to retreive the messages from the server and keep a consistent mailbox size on the server. This is recommended for most users as it will provide a smooth and stable email experience.
Q: How do I setup my pop3 email account in my email software on my computer?
A: Watch these video Tutorials
Q: I've watched the video tutorials 100 times and I still can't send email! How can I get my pop3 email software to send mail?
A: most likely your ISP (ie. dsl/cable provider) is blocking your outgoing smtp port 25. To fix this, go to your email software's advanced settings and update the smtp port to either 587 or 26.
- In outlook, Click Tools >> E-mail Accounts >> View or Change exisitng email accounts >> Double Click your email account >> Click "More Settings" >> Click the Advanced Tab >> Update the Outgoing Server SMTP Port field from 25 to (587 or 26)
- In Macmail, Click Mail >> Preferences >> Accounts >> Account Information >> Outgoing Server >> click on arrows >> choose Edit Server List and then select the Advanced tab. Update your ports here from 25 to (587 or 26)
- Make sure ssl is not enabled by default. In some cases (depending on what server you're using) ssl is enabled, but for smoother email setup, just disable it.
- Make sure your outgoing smtp is setup for authentication. This can be found in "more settings" or advanced outgoing settings. When you enable it, be sure it's set to use either Password or use same settings as my incoming server.
If you're still having issues your computer's IP could be blocked by anti-spam companies. Please check to see if your local computer's IP address is being blocked by clicking here and submitting your IP. If it is being blocked, contact your ISP (dsl or cable provider) to have them remove their IP address from this list.
